The Black Phone Horror
Scott Derrickson's contained scarefest holds up well despite the lack of a sequel. Taking place in 1970s Colorado, a series of kidnappings has rendered the youth on edge. The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the conflict between God and Mammon, the victory is clear for materialism in this director's wonderfully garish biopic regarding the shamed religious broadcaster and her criminal husband. Garfield acts as the venal Jim, who proclaims at the beginning, asserting religious justification for riches. The couple begin monetising the people's Christian beliefs. It's a spectacle of bad interior design, bad makeup and hypocrisy, though the lead actress achieves to present the character in a likable light. Tuesday 14 October, early morning, the Film4 channel
